Just About Every One Loves The Mustangs And We’ve Seen a Lot Of Them In Our Classic And Muscle Car Restoration Shop In Florida
A Short History of the Ford Mustang 1967 Fastback
The highest-grossing and expensive Ford Mustang 1967 Shelby GT is a one kind of special classic muscle car.
It was the redesign of the original model. The original, though achieved sales success, was due for an upgrade.
The major mechanical feature was to allow the installation of a big-block V88 engine.
The fact was that the 427 cu in V8 under its hood was lifted from the very familiar Ford GT40. Few exterior changes like the concave taillights, side scoop etc were also being noticed.
Providing a high performance 335hp 390 cu in (6.45L) FE engine from the Ford Thunderbird the 67 Fastback Mustang was a force to compete with the other muscle cars of this era.
The 420 cu in (7.0L) Cobra jet engine which was officially rated at 335 hp were issued R codes on their VIN’s. After a horde of convertibles and hardtops, the designers presented the first concept car, Shelby GT which was an instant hit.
The air-conditioning option was fully integrated into the dash.
The fastback model also offered the option of folding-seats.
The 67 hardtop included upholstered quarter trim panels, carried over from 65-66 models.
