1972 Wasque Boat

PBC is proud to show off some talent and hard work from an old friend, Bud Gallup. Here we have a 1972 32 foot Wasque boat built in Martha’s Vineyard.

This 1972 Wasque Boat was 1 of 20 models. It was built as a wooden boat on the Vineyard, and the owner had some requests for it so they made a fiberglass mold out of it. It came from New England Coastguards and Bud has spent a lot of time so far (2,500 man hours so far)

1972 Wasque Boat

Here’s the boat after some work was already done on it

Here, the 1972 Wasque Boat had some woodwork done and painting just started.

This boat started off as a bare hull, everything on top is brand new and hand built by Bud, even the woodwork, wheel and engine cover. From the top deck and above is brand new.

This 1972 Wasque Boat has a Diesel Cummins 6 cylinder, single prop and there are about 100 more hours of some detailing and painting. It is now being transferred from Ocala to Rhode Island with Bud as he is off to work for a few months.

The boat all painted, exterior all done.

Check out the video below to see some more of the boat

Stay posted as Bud will be keeping us posted on the progress of the boat in Rhode Island!

1976 Performer 233 292 Twin Screw Power Boat Restoration

John RussoBoat Refinishing & Graphics, Custom Paint, Gallery, RestorationJanuary 8, 20140 Comment

1976 Performer 233 292 Twin Screw Power Boat Restoration what a cool boat It was Designed by Harry Schoell  same designer for many famous boats as the Formula 233, the famous seabird 24, Magnum Marine and Donzi . Don Aronow collaborated with Harry Schoell on many of his famous 24 degree V Hulls .The Performer  was built by the same crews that hand laid up the cigarettes , and the Carys . As you will see the Performer has awesome lines and will slay some pretty nasty seas especially with the twin screw set up this boat has.

As you will see the Performer has the twin screw 292 6 cyl set up MerCruiser with fresh water cooling keep in mind the boat is almost 40 years old its in pristine condition for its age .

This is a picture of the the fresh water cooling system that I personally love even though this is a fresh water boat  its always best to have antifreeze cooling your engine package anti freeze has anti rust additives where fresh water and more so salt water will eat your engine from the inside out .

mag215here we have some new parts going on the boat with a complete new steering wheel and mast including cable new stainless water separators and Morse shift cables

Here is a better picture of the Morse duel action  control’s along with fuel shut offs its always a good Idea to run the fuel out of the system when storing boat for some time especially with the garbage gas that we have now .

I like to run my boats with a shot of marvel mystery oil in the gas and lead substitute additive in this case the Mercury factory requires that min 92 octane gasoline be used and musts have lead  to lubricate the valves

Personally I like the  1976 Performer 233 292 Twin Screw Power Boat Restoration and choose to own this boat over the 223 formula it has a nicer flare on the front of the hull to give you a dryer ride along with the engine compartment is much better hull and deck work fit and finish – When this boat is complete we will be shooting with silver base coat , charcoal, and whites and we will use silver and carbon fiber upholstery combination to really bring this boat into the Now ! with out taking away from the seventies style

Spray on Bed-liners For Boats and Marine Applications

John RussoBedliner, Boat Refinishing & GraphicsOctober 10, 20120 Comment

We are applying spray on bed-liners on boat decks and floors, from bass trackers to large fishing boats. Palm Beach Customs can restore your boat to a better that original example. Many boat owners are taking out their carpet. As you know the carpet tends to hold moisture and just make a mess of the deck of the boats when you remove the carpet. That’s when you can see the damage caused to the marine plywood. With proper prep of the wood, aluminum and fiberglass surfaces the spray on bed-liner adheres nicely.

Spray on Bedliner on Boats

Not to mention when we install spray on bed-liner for boats. The boat owner has a clean waterproof surface that is easy to clean, looks good and keeps the water away. Take a look at how we applied the spray on liner to this Bass tracker below. The customer was very pleased so much so that he had us refinish his engine cover boat sides and create new mercury logos.

Here is an example of a classic 1961 runabout that our shop restored and included a medium gray spray on liner on the fiberglass floor surface and provides a low maintenance solution to an easy rinse out and wash with soap vs the old carpet installed from the factory.

Spray On Liner on Boat Deck

It all started for us when we were located near the New England Fishing fleet in RI, owning a Large Sandblasting and Refinishing company. Testing the spray on liner products on the lobster boats and offshore boats proved to be a good fit .

We invite you to give us a call, visit our site and ask any questions for your project. We are located in Fort Myers FL and serving all of swfl and surrounding areas.

Boat Refinishing and Custom Graphics

John RussoBoat Refinishing & Graphics, Custom Paint, Gallery, RestorationOctober 5, 20120 Comment

Here is another example of Boat Refinishing and Custom Graphics addiction of John Russo owner of Palm Beach Customs. It started out that my daughter and I were going to purchase this boat, clean it and just use it as is. The funny thing is, as I am writing this post anyone who knows me realizes that is just not possible. It did start out that way and the cleaning turned into removing all the carpets and interior then we faced the fact that it was going to be a canidate for a paint job .

     Boat Refinishing and Custom Graphics

Well, as you can see it wasn’t just the average paint job. I decided to use House Of Kolor Spanish Gold Kandy and Pearl White as the main base colors and wanted asymmetrical graphics that I later named broken graphics. This meant that not one panel on the boat was the same.

So as the boat paint job and now full restoration was under way we got to thinking what are we going to name it? Then it came to me, clearly it was a jet boat that blew a Rooster- Tail about 60 ft in the air so there it was: Rooster Tail. That made me think about my favorite cartoon as a kid (plus my family owned a big chicken farm)  Foghorn Leghorn (loved that show). Well, I will just let you see the rest.

Below is a better shot of  Foghorn Leghorn airbrushed on the engine cover.

As you can see we replaced the entire dash and interior along with marine grade Berger carpet. All wood for the seat panels were new and coated with fiberglass resin to keep the moisture out in case they got wet and a nice pearl white vinyl was used. Oh, check out the custom stitched seats.

As you can see after about 400 man hours the “quick little detail “turned into a major paint Boat Refinishing and Custom Graphics work of art that was sure to turn some heads on the water. If you have a boat that needs gel-coat, fiberglass repairs and some updating or you are simply looking to get your boat name and some graphics, we are here to help. Just give us a ring and fill out the contact form and we will make your dreams a reality!

Custom Graphics Lettering Service Ft Myers: Tuning up a Racing Boat

Custom graphics lettering service on a racing boat

Check out our Custom Graphics Lettering service at Palm Beach Customs,  in Ft Myers

Palm Beach Customs can help you turn a regular un-noticeable boat into a rockstar at the dock. Take a look at how we turned a plain white boat into a racing sports star, with streamlined graphics and strong, vivid colors.

When this boat got into the workshop, it was plain white. As the owner wanted it to be a noticeable, racing boat, we had some ideas of how to turn this white unnoticeable boat into an eye candy, worthy of the Cigarette Racing Club, that ordered a custom graphics job.

We first sat down with the owner and discussed ideas. That resulted with a mockup of how the boat should look when finished, with all the details inside and out. Once the owner approved the design, we prepared the colors. For this boat custom paint job we used Shimrin candys by House of Kolor paints because they have great pigment consistency that is not affected by water and sunshine, both things that this boat will see plenty of.

The next step in this custom graphics of a racing boat was preparing the paint surfaces, which meant almost every square inch of the outer hull and the dashboard inside. Then, the boat's next stop was in the downdraft paint booth.

We first did the base coat of bright yellow of the hull. We did leave the immersed part of the hull white.

With the base yellow color dried up, the next step was to add some tangerine and add the famous racing stripes on the sides, and the eye-catching racing flag on the top of the boat. To add even more dynamic look and freshness, we added a stripe of green-black detail which worked great with the orange-white-black motif.

With the outer hull custom-painted, we moved inside the boat, and worked on the dashboard and seats. For seats, we chose an ivory-shade natural leather that sat perfectly with the tangerine hull and metallic details on the dashboard. For the dashboard we decided to go bold with the Cigarette Racing branding, which wrapped things up, bringing the logo and graphics inside the cockpit.

When all was done, we took the boat to the dock, for a real job-well-done treat. The Cigarette Racing Team was very happy with this custom paint job for their racing boat. Take a look at the image gallery to see this great custom paint job for this racing boat.

See Some of Our Marine Customs Lettering and Graphics Services Below!

Got a boat? Perhaps you can treat it with a fresh, unique paint job for a real statement at the dock.
