STEP FOUR: Paint- Show Quality Completed in house by John Russo
Putting the finishing touches on your ride is one of the most thrilling aspects of the whole process. It is the moment when you see your baby truly coming together.
When it comes down to the paintwork, you really want to think about longevity. Sure a bright shiny motor always looks dazzling to the eye but remember that you’re investing a lot of blood, sweat and hard cold cash into this project. Can you really see yourself driving this color car for the rest of your life? You don’t want to be coming back into the workshop two years later wondering what you were thinking when you ordered that racing car green…
So truly think about it. Look for rides which you are drawn to and ask yourself why. Envision yourself going around your day to day business on that ride. If it feels good to think about then you know you’re on the right path.
Unless you’ve experienced in this area you might want to think about outsourcing the job to the professionals. Here at Palm Beach Customs, we have been painting cars since 1980. You can take a look at some of our completed projects here.
We have our own 30ft spray booth install complete with a paint mixing room. Designed so that it ensures a dust free and immaculate finish.
At Palm Beach Customs, not only can you can you order your steel bodies and other components, you can also get your perfect finish. Needless to say, we can take care of the entire build for you if you’d prefer.
Here are a few Information Filled Videos:
In this video, we were painting a GSX Buick and going into 320 final sealer mold (PPG V Sealer). We sealed the car white because we painted the car “Sunburst Yellow” and it shows up a lot better on a lighter color.
In this video, you get to see how vibrant the yellow looks once it gets sprayed on top of the White sealer.
This video has steps for ultra fine and buffing on a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado
